Faina Stoliar Ben-David, MA MSW RSW
I have a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto with a focus on counseling.
I also completed a Master's Degree in Psychology, from Brock University with a speciality in Social and Personality Psychology.
My intervention modalities:
I work from an eclectic approach, which means that I use a variety of strategies to help you find solutions and live a meaningful life.
The following are some of my approaches:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
We look at the connection between emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. We look at what drives your emotions by exploring the thoughts you have about yourself, your worth and value, your successes and failures.
Solution Focused Therapy
We have meaningful conversations about solutions and strengths. I will ask you to consider quesitons about...what will be different when things are better...what has worked for you in the past...how will you be different when you have made changes...what changes will you have made...what strengths have helped you get through other difficulties?
Mindfulness and relaxation skills
Learning how to live in the present, being mindful of feelings and thoughts you experience in the moment, helps you learn to slow down, appreciate moments of being, let go of stress and struggles, and find time to "be" without the pressure and stress of "doing". We will talk about how to take care of your mind, body, and soul.
